Santa Cruz FC and American Soccer Club New York played out a wild 4–4 draw in NPSL action on Friday, with eight goals spread across a second half that swung decisively in both directions. J. De Souza De Aquino scored twice for the visitors, C. Prouty and K. Eljamal added one each, while Y. Sanchez bagged a brace for the hosts and C. Morandi and L. Pinto also found the net.

American Soccer Club New York struck first through De Souza De Aquino in the seventh minute and controlled much of the opening half. Santa Cruz pulled level when Morandi scored in the 43rd, but the equalizer lasted barely two minutes. De Souza De Aquino restored the visitors' lead right at the stroke of halftime, and Prouty added a third moments later to make it 3–1 heading into the break.

The second half opened just as poorly for Santa Cruz. Eljamal extended the advantage to 4–1 in the 52nd minute, and the game looked done. It wasn't.

Sanchez sparked the comeback with a goal in the 64th minute, then struck again eight minutes later to cut the deficit to one. Santa Cruz piled forward, and Pinto completed the rescue mission in the 83rd minute, drawing the hosts level at 4–4. Pinto was later booked in the 90th minute as tensions boiled over in the closing stages, with three yellow cards shown in the final two minutes alone.

The draw extends an unpredictable run of results for both sides as NPSL play continues deeper into the summer schedule.
