Sporting JAX picked up a comfortable 2–0 victory over Dallas Trinity FC on Saturday, with goals from Baylee DeSmit and Sophia Boman sealing all three points in USL Super League action.
The first half was a patient affair for the home side. Sporting JAX probed without finding a breakthrough for much of the opening 45 minutes, but the deadlock broke right before the halftime whistle. DeSmit got on the end of an Ashlyn Puerta delivery in the 45th minute to give JAX the lead heading into the break — a cruel blow for Dallas, who had kept things tight for the vast majority of the half.
Whatever adjustments Dallas Trinity made at the interval failed to shift the momentum. Sporting JAX continued to control proceedings and doubled their advantage in the 79th minute when Boman converted from a Catherine Rapp assist to put the result beyond doubt.
Dallas rarely threatened enough to suggest a comeback was on the cards. The visitors struggled to generate consistent attacking play, and a clean sheet for Sporting JAX reflected their defensive solidity throughout the 90 minutes. Neither side picked up a booking, making for a disciplined if one-sided contest.
The win strengthens Sporting JAX's position in the USL Super League standings and extends what has been a solid spell at home, while Dallas Trinity FC will head back to Texas empty-handed and searching for answers.
