Charlotte Independence ran out 3–1 winners against Forward Madison FC on Saturday, with goals from Luis Alvarez, Christy Manzinga, and Miles Lyons sealing a comfortable USL League One victory at home.

Forward Madison actually struck first. Stephen Annor gave the visitors the lead in the 14th minute, finishing off a pass from Edwin Munjoma to put the Flamingos ahead early. The advantage lasted just three minutes. Alvarez equalized for Charlotte in the 17th minute, and the Independence completed the turnaround seven minutes later when Manzinga converted from a Prince Saydee assist to make it 2–1 heading toward halftime.

Forward Madison's frustration boiled over as the first half wound down. Matt Glaeser was cautioned in the 36th minute, Roman Torres followed two minutes later, and Munjoma — who had set up the opening goal — picked up a booking of his own in the 42nd minute. Three yellows in six minutes painted a clear picture of a side struggling to regain control.

Derek Gebhard added a fourth Forward Madison yellow in the 67th minute, and Torres was booked again deep in stoppage time, though the second caution came after the match was already decided. Lyons put the result beyond doubt in the 88th minute, slotting home Charlotte's third to cap a strong home performance.

Charlotte's Joseph Skinner picked up the hosts' only booking of the night in the 80th minute — a stat that underlined the contrast in discipline between the two sides.

The victory gives Charlotte Independence valuable points at home and further evidence that Forward Madison's road struggles remain a persistent issue this season.
