Hartford Athletic and New Mexico United played out a goalless draw on Saturday in a USL Championship clash that produced little in the way of finishing but plenty of cards.

Neither side managed to find a breakthrough across 90 minutes, though the match was far from uneventful. Hartford's Beverly Makangila picked up an early booking in the 19th minute, setting a combative tone that would define much of the contest. New Mexico's Zico Bailey followed into the referee's notebook in the 34th minute, and Dayonn Harris joined him just before halftime, carded in first-half stoppage time.

The second half carried a similar edge. Hartford's Britton Fischer was cautioned in the 57th minute as fouls continued to disrupt any attacking rhythm either team tried to build. The pivotal disciplinary moment came in the 87th minute when Makangila collected his second yellow card, reducing Hartford to ten men for the closing stages. Andrés Hernández was then booked two minutes later as Hartford scrambled to hold on with a man short.

New Mexico failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage in the dying minutes, and the match ended without a goal — a frustrating outcome for the visitors, who will feel the late man advantage was a missed opportunity.

The draw does little to shift the momentum for either side, with both Hartford Athletic and New Mexico United left searching for the kind of clinical edge that was entirely absent on a scrappy night in Connecticut.
