Greenville United thought they had all three points secured at home, but J. Oviedo Vera's 90th-minute equalizer earned Burlington United FC a 1–1 draw in NPSL action on Tuesday. E. Paparoupas had given Greenville the lead in the 78th minute, only for Burlington to snatch a share of the spoils deep in stoppage time.

The first half offered little in the way of goals but plenty of edge. S. Jacobs picked up a yellow card for Greenville just before the break, setting the tone for a physical second half. B. Chisholm followed him into the book in the 69th minute as challenges grew increasingly heated.

Greenville broke the deadlock with 12 minutes remaining. Paparoupas found the net to send the home side into the lead, and for a spell it looked like that would be enough. Burlington grew desperate. M. Fofana was cautioned in the 80th minute, and B. Fall joined him four minutes later as the visitors pressed forward with mounting urgency.

Their persistence paid off. Oviedo Vera struck in the final minute of regulation to level the score, silencing the Greenville faithful. A. Enriquez was booked in the aftermath, the frustration of conceding so late boiling over.

Five yellow cards across the 90 minutes underlined the intensity of a contest that ultimately satisfied neither side. Burlington will feel they stole something; Greenville will wonder how they let it slip.

The draw leaves both teams sharing the points in what could prove a costly result as the NPSL season progresses.
