New York Cosmos ground out a 1–0 victory over FC Naples in USL League One action on Wednesday night, with Chevone Marsh's second-half strike proving the difference.

The first half was a tight, cagey affair. FC Naples picked up an early booking when Jaylen Yearwood went into the referee's notebook in the 10th minute, but neither side managed to find a breakthrough before the break.

The deadlock was broken in the 56th minute. Philip Spengler played the key pass, and Marsh finished to put the Cosmos ahead. It was a goal that shifted the momentum firmly in New York's favor, forcing Naples to chase the game.

The visitors pushed for an equalizer but struggled to create clear-cut chances. Sebastián Guenzatti was cautioned in the 69th minute as the Cosmos looked to manage the game, and Juan Osorio picked up a yellow for Naples in the 82nd minute as frustration crept in. Sergio Chavez added a late booking for the hosts deep into stoppage time, but by then the result was already secured.

Naples never found an answer, and the Cosmos held firm to claim all three points. It was a professional, disciplined display from the home side — limited in spectacle, perhaps, but effective where it mattered.

The win gives the Cosmos valuable points in what shapes up as a competitive USL League One campaign, while Naples will need to regroup quickly after a result that leaves them with little to show for the trip to New York.
