Brooklyn FC edged Spokane Zephyr FC 1–0 at home on Saturday, with Sofia Lewis striking in the 74th minute to settle a tightly contested USL Super League affair.

The first half was a scrappy one, defined more by the referee's notebook than by chances on goal. Brooklyn picked up two yellow cards inside the opening half-hour — Jessica Garziano was cautioned in the 19th minute, followed by Jennifer Cudjoe in the 32nd. Despite the disciplinary trouble, Brooklyn avoided going down to ten and kept the game level heading into the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern of stop-start play. Mylena Santos became the third Brooklyn player to be booked, picking up a yellow in the 72nd minute. Two minutes later, though, Brooklyn made the breakthrough. Samantha Kroeger delivered the key pass, and Lewis finished to give the home side a 1–0 lead.

Spokane, who had kept things tight for over 70 minutes, now needed to chase the game but couldn't find an equalizer in the time remaining. Brooklyn held firm despite their card count, seeing out the final stretch without further incident.

The win gives Brooklyn FC a valuable three points at home, a result that could prove significant as the USL Super League season progresses and the margins between clubs in the table continue to tighten.
