New York Cosmos eased past Fort Wayne FC 2–0 on Saturday in USL League One action, with Sebastián Guenzatti and Davide Galazzini each finding the net. Philip Spengler was the architect behind both goals, providing the assists that sealed all three points for the hosts.

The Cosmos took the lead in the 21st minute when Guenzatti finished from a Spengler delivery to put New York ahead early. Fort Wayne's Juan Solis picked up a yellow card just three minutes later, and teammate Reid Sproat followed him into the book before halftime as the visitors struggled to gain a foothold in the match.

Any hope of a Fort Wayne comeback was quickly snuffed out after the break. Galazzini doubled the lead in the 50th minute, again courtesy of Spengler's service, and the contest was effectively over as a spectacle.

What followed was a scrappy final half-hour. The game grew increasingly fractious, with seven yellow cards shown across both sides in the second half alone. Lilian Ricol was cautioned for Fort Wayne in the 72nd minute before Cosmos pair Nicholas Mendonca and Christian Koffi were booked in quick succession. Galazzini, the second goalscorer, joined them in the referee's notebook in the 83rd minute. Fort Wayne's Daniel Oyetunde and Tiago Dias picked up late yellows of their own as frustration boiled over in the closing stages.

Despite the late indiscipline, the Cosmos were never troubled defensively and saw out the clean sheet comfortably. The victory gives New York early-season momentum as they look to establish themselves near the top of the League One standings.
