Charleston Battery ground out a 1–0 victory over Loudoun United FC on Saturday night, with Langston Blackstock's 64th-minute strike proving the difference in a tight USL Championship contest.

The first half produced no goals but plenty of needle. Charleston's Nathan Messer picked up a yellow card in the 26th minute, and teammate Maalique Foster followed him into the referee's notebook before halftime with a caution in the 40th. Despite the disciplinary trouble, the Battery held firm defensively and kept Loudoun from finding a breakthrough.

The second half followed a similar pattern of frustration — until Charleston broke through. Loudoun's Giorgi Lomtadze was booked in the 62nd minute, and just two minutes later the visitors made the hosts pay. Douglas Martínez played in Blackstock, who converted to put Charleston ahead. It was a clinical moment from the Battery, capitalizing almost immediately after Loudoun's foul disrupted the rhythm of the game.

Loudoun pushed for an equalizer in the final quarter-hour but could not find a way past Charleston's backline. The Battery, who had managed their way through a scrappy affair despite collecting two first-half bookings, saw the game out comfortably enough.
