Tampa Bay Rowdies snatched all three points on the road with a 1-0 victory over Sporting JAX on Saturday, Evan Conway striking deep into stoppage time to settle a tight USL Championship contest.

The first half offered little in the way of clear-cut chances, though Sporting JAX picked up an early booking when Antonio Gomez was cautioned in the 22nd minute. Neither side managed to break the deadlock before the break, and the game carried that same cagey feel into the second half.

Sporting JAX's Brem Soumaoro went into the referee's notebook shortly after the restart, picking up a yellow card in the 47th minute. Still, the home side stayed in the fight, and for long stretches it looked as though a goalless draw was the most likely outcome.

That changed in the dying moments. With the clock ticking past 90 minutes, Conway latched onto a delivery from Charlie Ostrem and found the net in the fifth minute of stoppage time. It was a cruel blow for Sporting JAX, who had done enough defensively for most of the evening but simply couldn't hold on when it mattered most.

Tampa Bay's players mobbed Conway near the corner flag, and there was barely time to restart before the final whistle confirmed the result. For Sporting JAX, it was the kind of defeat that lingers — dominant in effort, empty in reward.

The late winner gives the Rowdies a valuable three points on the road early in the season, while Sporting JAX will need to regroup quickly after a result that slipped away in agonizing fashion.
