Fort Lauderdale United FC and Brooklyn FC played out a 1–1 draw in USL Super League action on Saturday, with Rebecca Cooke opening the scoring early for the visitors before Kelli Van Treeck leveled for the hosts before halftime.

Brooklyn struck first in the seventh minute. Cooke found the net to give her side an early advantage, and for much of the opening half hour, Fort Lauderdale were chasing the game. Catherine Zimmerman picked up a yellow card for Brooklyn in the 30th minute as the visitors looked to protect their lead.

Fort Lauderdale's equalizer came six minutes before the break. Stella Nyamekye played the ball to Van Treeck, who made no mistake to pull the hosts level at 1–1 heading into halftime.

The second half turned into a scrappy, stop-start affair. Nyamekye, who had created the equalizer, was booked in the 67th minute. Jordan Thompson joined her in the referee's notebook nine minutes later for Brooklyn. The final stretch grew increasingly testy — Taylor Smith received a yellow card in the 86th minute and then picked up a second in stoppage time, though it did not result in a red card based on the official match record. Samantha Rosette was also cautioned for Brooklyn in the 90th minute as tempers frayed late on.

Neither side could find a winner despite the intensity of the closing stages, and the points were shared.

The draw means both Fort Lauderdale United and Brooklyn FC remain in search of the kind of results that could shift their positioning in the USL Super League standings as the season progresses.
