Bristol Rhythm AFC ground out a 0–1 victory at Charlottetowne Hops FC on Saturday, decided by a 66th-minute own goal from Charlottetowne's P. Enchill.

The first half was a scrappy affair defined more by the referee's notebook than by attacking quality. E. Edwards picked up the game's first yellow card in the 21st minute for the home side, and Bristol Rhythm's A. Gummer followed in the 37th. J. Zawlocki was also cautioned just before the break in the 44th minute, meaning the visitors entered halftime with two players walking a disciplinary tightrope.

The deadlock broke in the 66th minute, though not the way either side would have scripted it. Enchill turned the ball into his own net to hand Bristol Rhythm a lead they had done little to earn up to that point. Charlottetowne pushed forward in search of an equalizer but could not find a way through.

The closing stages grew testy. Bristol Rhythm picked up two more bookings in the 89th minute — L. Gummer and J. Lluch Casarramona both cautioned as the visitors did everything they could to see out the final minutes. Four yellows across the match painted a clear picture of a Bristol Rhythm side willing to be ugly in pursuit of three points.

Charlottetowne, meanwhile, will be left frustrated by the manner of defeat, undone not by any moment of opposition brilliance but by their own misfortune.

The result gives Bristol Rhythm a valuable road win as the NPSL season moves deeper into the summer stretch.
