Sporting JAX edged Carolina Ascent FC 1–0 on Saturday thanks to a late strike from Jade Pennock in the 85th minute, securing all three points in a tight USL Super League contest.

The match got off to a rocky start for the hosts when Julia Lester was shown a yellow card inside the opening minute, setting an early tone. Despite that early caution, neither side was able to break the deadlock through the first half, with the game heading into the break goalless.
