Corpus Christi FC ground out a 1–0 victory over Greenville Triumph SC in USL League One action on Saturday, with Arthur Medina's early strike proving the difference.

Medina gave the hosts the lead in the 10th minute, finishing off a chance created by Jackson Dietrich. It was the only goal Corpus Christi would need, but the night was far from comfortable.

The match grew increasingly fractious as it wore on. Medina, already on the scoresheet, picked up a yellow card in the 30th minute — a booking that forced him to tread carefully for the remaining hour. Éamon Zayed joined him in the referee's notebook three minutes into the second half, setting the tone for a tetchy 45 minutes.

Greenville, chasing the game, couldn't find a way through despite Corpus Christi's mounting discipline issues. Enock Kwakwa was cautioned in the 77th minute, the home side's third booking of the second half. Greenville picked up cards of their own as frustration set in — Louis Herrera was booked in the 81st minute, followed by Ezra White in the 87th and Brandon Fricke a minute later. The final minutes descended into a stop-start affair, with both Jack Keaney and Azaad Liadi seeing yellow deep into stoppage time.

Eight yellow cards and no red — the referee kept all 22 players on the pitch, but only just.

Corpus Christi held firm to claim all three points at home, a result that could prove valuable in what shapes up as a tight League One standings race through the summer months.
