Louisville City FC left it as late as possible to edge Sporting JAX 1–0 at home on Saturday, with Jansen Wilson striking deep into stoppage time to settle a tightly contested USL Championship affair.

The first half produced few clear-cut moments, though Sporting JAX's Ryan Edwards was cautioned in the 26th minute — the first sign of what would become a frustrating evening for the visitors.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with neither side able to find a breakthrough. Sporting JAX's discipline deteriorated as the match wore on. Antonio Gomez was booked in the 70th minute, Wahab Ackwei followed him into the referee's notebook in the 80th, and Dida Armstrong picked up a yellow five minutes later. Four cautions in total for JAX painted a picture of a side increasingly stretched and resorting to fouls to keep Louisville at bay.

It worked — until it didn't. In the sixth minute of added time, Jake Morris delivered the ball that Wilson finished to send the home crowd into delirium. After 90-plus minutes of resistance from Sporting JAX, one lapse was all it took.

For Louisville City FC, the manner of the victory will matter less than the three points. Late winners carry momentum, and Wilson's goal ensures they keep pace in the early stages of the 2026 USL Championship season. For Sporting JAX, it was a gut-punch ending to a match in which their defensive effort deserved at least a share of the spoils.
