Greenville Triumph SC edged Forward Madison FC 1–0 at home on Wednesday night in USL League One action, with Azaad Liadi netting the only goal of the contest in the 14th minute.

The hosts struck early. Devin Boyce delivered the key pass and Liadi finished it off to put Greenville ahead before the match had settled into any rhythm. It was a clinical start from the Triumph, who then had to manage the rest of the evening with that slender advantage.

The first half grew increasingly scrappy as it wore on. Patrick Seagrist picked up a yellow card just before the break in the 44th minute, and Boyce — the man who created the goal — was booked in first-half stoppage time. Greenville's discipline issues continued after the interval when Liadi, the goalscorer himself, went into the referee's notebook in the 56th minute, followed by Louis Herrera in the 79th.

Four yellow cards for the home side told a story of a team defending its lead with aggression and urgency. Forward Madison, for their part, pushed for an equalizer but couldn't find a way through. Their frustration showed late on, with Kerfalla Toure cautioned in the 83rd minute and Mark Segbers following him in the 89th. Kevin Carmichael rounded out the card count deep in stoppage time.

Seven yellows across the two sides and not a single red — a fractious, physical affair that never quite boiled over.
