Grove United claimed a 2–1 victory over Alexandria Reds in NPSL action on June 27, with first-half goals from D. Good and R. Heinemann proving enough to hold off a late push from the visitors. L. Spiegel pulled one back for Alexandria before the break, but Grove United held firm after halftime to secure all three points.

The hosts took the lead in the 19th minute when Good found the net to put Grove United ahead early. The advantage was doubled in the 31st minute through Heinemann, giving the home side a comfortable cushion heading into the final stretch of the first half.

Alexandria Reds refused to go quietly. Spiegel's goal on the stroke of halftime in the 44th minute cut the deficit to one and gave the Reds real hope of mounting a second-half comeback.

The second half turned scrappy. J. Vandehei picked up a yellow card for Grove United in the 57th minute, and Alexandria's K. Mwape was booked in the 71st minute as both sides competed hard in midfield. Grove United's I. Daniel saw yellow in the 83rd minute, followed by S. Beckman of Alexandria Reds in the 90th, as tempers frayed in the closing stages. Despite the pressure and the cards, Grove United's defense stayed organized enough to keep Alexandria from finding an equalizer.

The win gives Grove United valuable momentum as the NPSL season moves deeper into the summer stretch.
