Lexington SC picked up a comfortable 2–0 home win over Oakland Roots SC on Wednesday night, with Phillip Goodrum and Blaine Ferri scoring second-half goals to seal three points in the USL Championship.

The first half produced no goals but plenty of tension. Oakland's Neveal Hackshaw was booked in the 45th minute as the sides went into the break level.

Lexington came out sharper after halftime. Goodrum broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half, finishing from a Nicolas Firmino feed to make it 1–0. The striker's celebration was short-lived — he picked up a yellow card just four minutes later, in the 54th minute, for his troubles.

That booking did nothing to slow Lexington's momentum. Goodrum turned provider in the 63rd minute, setting up Ferri to double the lead and effectively put the game to bed. Oakland had no answer. Keegan Tingey was cautioned in the 80th minute as the Roots grew increasingly frustrated, and Ferri joined Goodrum in the referee's notebook with a yellow card of his own in the 87th minute. Lexington's Malik Henry-Scott was also booked deep in stoppage time.

Oakland rarely threatened after falling behind and managed little in the way of a meaningful response across the final half hour. Lexington controlled the game without needing to overexert, the two-goal cushion proving more than enough.

The victory gives Lexington SC a valuable three points at home and strengthens their position in the USL Championship standings as the season moves deeper into the summer stretch.
