Fort Wayne FC picked up a comfortable 2–0 home win over Richmond Kickers in USL League One action on Wednesday, with goals from Jayden Smith and Jack Thomas sealing all three points.

The first half was a largely cagey affair, with Richmond's Daniel Moore picking up a yellow card in the 27th minute. Fort Wayne made the breakthrough right before the break — Smith found the net on the stroke of halftime to send the hosts into the interval with a deserved lead.

The second half brought more edge. Fort Wayne's Tiago Dias was cautioned in the 57th minute, and teammate Javier Armas followed him into the book five minutes later, giving the home side little room for error in the tackle. None of that mattered in the 75th minute, though, when Thomas finished off a Michael Rempel delivery to double the advantage and effectively end the contest. Richmond's Sam Layton was booked in the 81st minute as the Kickers' frustration grew, but they never looked capable of mounting a comeback.

Fort Wayne saw the game out without any real alarm, keeping a clean sheet and managing the final minutes with little fuss.

The victory gives Fort Wayne FC valuable points in the League One standings as the season enters its final stretch, strengthening their position in the playoff picture.
