Lexington SC swept aside Brooklyn FC 3–1 at home on Saturday, scoring three times in a devastating six-minute burst before halftime. McKenzie Weinert struck twice — in the 39th and 45th minutes — while Catherine Barry added a third in the 44th as the hosts took complete control of the contest. Rebecca Cooke pulled one back for Brooklyn in the 69th minute, but it proved little more than a consolation.

The first half started slowly, with neither side finding the net through the opening 38 minutes. Weinert, who had been booked as early as the sixth minute, broke the deadlock a minute later when she finished off a pass from Addie McCain. That opener uncorked everything. Five minutes later, Catherine Barry doubled the lead, converting from an Alyssa Bourgeois delivery. Before Brooklyn could regroup, Weinert added her second on the stroke of halftime, latching onto a ball from Sarah Griffith to make it 3–0 heading into the break.

Brooklyn needed a fast start to the second half but couldn't find one. It took until the 69th minute for the visitors to respond, when Cooke turned in a Leah Scarpelli assist to cut the deficit to two. That goal briefly gave Brooklyn a pulse, but Lexington managed the remaining minutes comfortably and never looked in danger of surrendering their advantage.

Weinert's brace, earned despite playing the entire match on a booking, was the difference — a clinical display from the forward when it mattered most.
