Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC produced a stunning late comeback to defeat Birmingham Legion FC 3–2 in USL Championship action on Saturday, with Adrien Pérez and Juan Tejada both scoring deep into stoppage time to overturn a one-goal deficit. Nico Brown and Serge Ngoma had Birmingham on course for three points, while Garven-Michee Metusala's first-half equalizer kept the Switchbacks in the contest.

Birmingham struck first in the 24th minute through Brown, who gave the visitors a deserved lead. Colorado Springs struggled to find a response for much of the half but pulled level just before the break — Metusala finishing from a Pérez delivery in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time to make it 1–1 at the interval.

The second half was a scrappy affair. Pérez picked up a yellow card in the 53rd minute, and Metusala followed him into the book shortly after. Birmingham appeared to have stolen it when Ngoma struck in the 86th minute, restoring the visitors' advantage and seemingly sealing the result.

Colorado Springs had other ideas. Pérez, already on a caution, showed no hesitation in pushing forward and equalized in the fifth minute of added time, converting from a Tyreek Magee pass to drag his side level at 2–2. The Switchbacks weren't done. Four minutes later, Tejada completed the turnaround with a third to send the home crowd into delirium. Metusala picked up a second booking in the chaos of the closing moments but it mattered little by then.

The victory gives Colorado Springs vital points in a congested Championship table and will sting a Birmingham side that was minutes away from leaving with all three.
