Charlotte Independence dismantled FC Naples 5–1 on the road in USL League One action on Wednesday, with Luis Alvarez scoring twice and Prince Saydee, Souaibou Marou, and Jon Bakero also finding the net. Hudson Gay grabbed a late consolation for the hosts.

Charlotte wasted no time taking control. Saydee opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Naples' frustration showed almost immediately — Julian Cisneros picked up a yellow card just a minute later. The visitors kept pressing and doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Marou finished from a Christopher Jaime delivery. Jaime turned provider again eight minutes later, setting up Alvarez to make it 3–0 before halftime. Naples had no answer.

The second half offered no relief. Alvarez struck again four minutes after the restart, converting from a Clay Dimick assist to put Charlotte firmly out of sight at 4–0. Bakero added a fifth in the 71st minute, with Saydee — the man who started the rout — picking up the assist.

Naples finally got on the scoresheet in the 79th minute when Gay turned in a Raul Miglietti pass, but the goal was little more than a footnote. Gay was then booked six minutes later as the hosts' evening went from bad to worse.

Christopher Jaime was arguably the standout performer without scoring, providing two assists in a dominant first-half display that effectively settled the contest before the break.

The comprehensive defeat leaves FC Naples with serious questions to answer, while Charlotte Independence's emphatic away win underlines their credentials as genuine contenders this season.
