Detroit City FC snatched all three points on the road at Forward Madison FC, winning 1–0 thanks to a late strike from Haruki Yamazaki in the 88th minute.

A tense, scrappy affair produced eight yellow cards but just one goal — and it came when it mattered most. The first half set the tone early, with Forward Madison's Roman Torres booked in the 13th minute and teammate Edwin Munjoma following him into the referee's notebook five minutes later. Detroit's Derrick Silva picked up a caution of his own before halftime, as neither side managed to find a breakthrough.

The second half was no cleaner. Yamazaki, who would later prove the match-winner, was cautioned just three minutes after the restart. Detroit's Abdoulaye Diop saw yellow in the 57th minute, and Forward Madison continued to test the referee's patience — Geni Kanyane and Stephen Annor were booked within a minute of each other around the 70th mark, followed by Enrique Machasen seven minutes later. Five yellows for the home side in total painted a picture of growing frustration.

That frustration proved justified. With regulation time winding down, Devon Amoo-Mensah found Yamazaki, and the already-cautioned forward made no mistake, burying the chance to put Detroit ahead in the 88th minute. Forward Madison had no time to respond.

The result gives Detroit City FC a valuable three points away from home in USL League One, while Forward Madison are left to wonder how a match they battled so hard in slipped away in the final moments.
