Brooklyn FC ground out a 1–0 victory over Fort Lauderdale United FC on Friday night, with Carlee Giammona striking the only goal of the game in the 76th minute to secure all three points in USL Super League action.
The first half produced few fireworks but plenty of friction. Fort Lauderdale's Kelsey Oyler picked up the game's first yellow card in the 35th minute as tensions simmered in a tight, physical contest. Neither side managed to break the deadlock before the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern until Giammona — already walking a tightrope after being booked in the 67th minute — delivered the decisive moment nine minutes later. Rather than shrink from the game after her caution, she found the net to put Brooklyn ahead with 14 minutes of normal time remaining.
Fort Lauderdale pushed for an equalizer but couldn't find a way through. Kiara Locklear was cautioned in the 88th minute as the visitors' frustration mounted. The closing stages grew scrappy, with Brooklyn's Jessica Garziano and Fort Lauderdale's Sh'Nia Gordon both picking up yellow cards deep into stoppage time as the match petered out.
Brooklyn held firm to claim the clean sheet and the win, a result that strengthens their position in the USL Super League standings and leaves Fort Lauderdale still searching for answers on the road.
