NPSLEl Farolito cruised to a 3-0 away victory over Bristol Rhythm AFC in NPSL action on Saturday, with the hosts contributing to their own downfall — literally. All three goals were own goals from Bristol Rhythm AFC players, as K. Sacre found his own net twice (47', 90') and D. Benson added another (59') in a dismal afternoon for the home side.
Bristol Rhythm AFC's troubles started early when S. Villareal picked up a yellow card in just the seventh minute, setting an edgy tone. The first half remained scoreless, but the dam broke moments after the restart. Sacre turned the ball into his own goal in the 47th minute to hand El Farolito the lead.
El Farolito then had to navigate a setback of their own when P. Enchill was sent off in the 54th minute, reducing the visitors to ten men. Rather than capitalize on the numerical advantage, Bristol Rhythm AFC made things worse. Benson put through his own net five minutes later to double El Farolito's lead — a stunning sequence for a side with a man advantage.
The visitors managed the game comfortably despite being shorthanded, with L. Salkeld and J. Gracia picking up yellow cards in the 80th and 81st minutes respectively as they saw things out. Sacre then completed a miserable personal outing by scoring a second own goal in the 90th minute to seal the 3-0 result.
The comprehensive defeat leaves Bristol Rhythm AFC with serious questions to answer, while El Farolito will happily take three points earned in the most unconventional fashion.
