Carolina Ascent FC came from behind — or rather, never trailed — beating Brooklyn FC 2–1 on the road in USL Super League action on Saturday. Brianna Martínez opened the scoring in the 24th minute for Carolina, Jillienne Aguilera doubled the lead before the hour mark, and Sofia Lewis pulled one back for Brooklyn, but it wasn't enough.

The match was barely a minute old in terms of notable action when Brooklyn's Leah Scarpelli picked up a yellow card in the 23rd minute. Carolina made them pay almost immediately. Martínez found the net just sixty seconds later to give the visitors a 1–0 advantage heading toward halftime. Brooklyn's frustrations showed — Jordan Thompson was also cautioned before the break, while Aguilera picked up a booking of her own for Carolina in the 35th minute.

The second half began with Carolina tightening the screws. Aguilera, already on a yellow, took the risk and pushed forward to finish off a pass from Audrey Coleman in the 56th minute, making it 2–0. That goal gave Carolina breathing room they would desperately need.

Brooklyn responded eleven minutes later through Lewis, who converted from a Jessica Garziano delivery to cut the deficit in half. The final twenty minutes grew increasingly scrappy. Hope Breslin was booked for Brooklyn in the 75th minute, and Carolina collected three yellows of their own in the closing stages — Alyssa Walker, Emily Morris, and Coleman all going into the referee's notebook as the visitors fought to protect their lead.

Seven yellow cards across the ninety minutes told the story of a hard-fought contest, but Carolina Ascent FC held firm to secure three valuable points on the road.
