Statesville FC and Greenville United played out a 1–1 draw in NPSL action on Saturday, with A. Saine opening the scoring for the hosts in the 52nd minute before L. Poder equalized for Greenville in the 66th.

The first half produced few fireworks worth noting, though Statesville's D. Ivanov picked up a yellow card in the 33rd minute — a sign of the physical edge that would define the rest of the contest.

Statesville came out sharper after the break. Saine found the net seven minutes into the second half to give the home side the lead, but the striker's celebration was short-lived. He was booked just a minute later, in the 53rd, and suddenly had to manage his game with a card hanging over him.

The discipline issues didn't stop there. S. Montino Evangelista was cautioned in the 63rd minute, Statesville's third booking of the match. Greenville took advantage of the hosts' growing frustration. Poder leveled the score in the 66th minute, restoring parity and shifting momentum firmly toward the visitors.

P. Salazar joined the list of Statesville players in the referee's notebook in the 69th minute. By that point, the home side had collected four yellows and looked more interested in contesting decisions than creating chances. The final minutes were scrappy — I. Tom Balonge was booked in the 89th for Statesville before Greenville's S. Larue picked up the visitors' lone yellow in stoppage time.

Five yellow cards for Statesville tells its own story: a side that lost composure after going ahead and ultimately had to settle for a point that may feel like two dropped.
