Greenville Triumph SC held off a late New York Cosmos fightback to claim a 3–2 victory in USL League One action on Wednesday night. Brandon Fricke, Sergio Chavez, and Rodrigo Robles found the net for the hosts, while Philip Spengler and Nicholas Mendonca replied for the Cosmos.

Greenville wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Fricke struck in just the third minute, finishing from a Patrick Seagrist delivery to give the Triumph an early lead. The Cosmos steadied themselves and drew level in the 25th minute when Spengler converted after good work from Anges Kader Bohui. The teams went into the break locked at 1–1.

The second half belonged to Greenville — at least for a stretch. Chavez restored the home side's advantage in the 57th minute, and five minutes later Robles made it 3–1, getting on the end of an Evan Lee pass to give the Triumph breathing room.

That cushion didn't last as long as Greenville would have liked. Mendonca pulled one back for New York in the 77th minute to set
