Bristol Rhythm AFC ground out a 2–0 home victory over Statesville FC in NPSL action on Friday, benefiting from a pair of own goals in the final 20 minutes to claim all three points. N. Booth put through his own net in the 73rd minute before teammate E. Edwards did the same in the 83rd, handing Bristol Rhythm a win without their attackers needing to find the scoresheet.

The first half offered little in the way of decisive action. J. Sagnol picked up a yellow card for Bristol Rhythm in the 40th minute, the only notable incident before the break.

The game turned in the final quarter of an hour. Booth's own goal in the 73rd minute broke the deadlock and visibly rattled Statesville. Three minutes later, L. Klamler was booked as frustrations began to surface. Edwards then compounded the misery in the 83rd minute with a second own goal, effectively killing the contest. N. Delmotte saw yellow in the same minute, while Bristol Rhythm's C. Zapata was cautioned in the 86th minute as the game grew increasingly scrappy in its closing stages.

Statesville will look back on those 10 minutes with deep frustration. Two self-inflicted wounds undid whatever defensive work they had managed for the majority of the match. Bristol Rhythm, for their part, did enough to force the pressure that led to both errors, even if the manner of the goals owed more to Statesville's mistakes than any moment of attacking brilliance.

The result gives Bristol Rhythm AFC a valuable three points as the NPSL season continues to take shape.
