Detroit City FC ground out a 1–0 victory over Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday night, with Kian Williams scoring the only goal in the 73rd minute to secure all three points in USL Championship play.

The first half was a scrappy, stop-start affair. Detroit picked up an early booking when Kobe Hernández-Foster was cautioned in the 14th minute, and Pittsburgh's Jackson Walti followed him into the referee's notebook fifteen minutes later. Joao Victor Souza earned the Riverhounds' second yellow right before the break, capping a fractious opening 45 minutes that failed to produce a goal.

The second half continued in a similar vein. Alasanne Ates Diouf became Detroit's second cautioned player in the 67th minute, but the hosts found a breakthrough shortly after. Williams latched onto a pass from Haruki Yamazaki and converted in the 73rd minute to put Detroit ahead. It was a moment of quality in a match that had been defined more by fouls than fluency.

Pittsburgh pushed for an equalizer in the final stretch but couldn't find a way through. Detroit managed the closing minutes well enough to keep a clean sheet and see out the result without any late scares.

Four yellow cards were shown across the 90 minutes — two to each side — though the referee kept the red card in his pocket throughout.

The win gives Detroit City FC valuable points as the season enters its final weeks, strengthening their position in a congested USL Championship table.
