Hartford Athletic dismantled New York Cosmos 4–1 on the road Saturday, with Augustine Williams, Barry Coffey, Emmanuel Samadia, and Andrés Hernández all finding the net in a dominant display. Sergio Chavez grabbed a late consolation for the hosts.

Hartford set the tone early. Williams opened the scoring in the 11th minute, giving the visitors a lead they never looked like surrendering. The Cosmos struggled to respond and grew increasingly frustrated, picking up a string of yellow cards as the first half wore on.

Coffey doubled the advantage in the 40th minute, finishing off a Williams assist to make it 2–0. The Cosmos were reeling, and worse was to come before the break. Samadia added a third in the 45th minute from an Adrian Diz Pe delivery, sending Hartford into halftime with a commanding three-goal cushion.

The second half offered little reprieve for the home side. The Cosmos continued to collect bookings — five in total across the match — while Hartford managed the game comfortably. Chavez pulled one back in the 87th minute to briefly raise hopes of a miraculous comeback, but Hernández extinguished them a minute later, converting from a Sadat Anaku pass to restore the three-goal margin at 4–1.

It was a thorough away performance from Hartford, who controlled proceedings from start to finish while the Cosmos' discipline crumbled around them. The result gives Hartford valuable points on the road and leaves the Cosmos with serious questions about a defensive performance that fell apart long before halftime.
