Tampa Bay Rowdies secured a 1–0 victory away at Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday, with Marco Micaletto's second-half strike proving the difference in a USL Championship clash that grew increasingly ill-tempered as the final whistle approached.

The first half offered little in the way of clear-cut action, though Tampa Bay's Lewis Hilton picked up a yellow card in the 42nd minute. Neither side managed to break the deadlock before the break.

The Rowdies found their breakthrough 12 minutes into the second half. Pedro Dolabella played in Micaletto, who finished to make it 1–0 in the 57th minute. It was a goal that shifted the entire complexion of the match.

What followed was a fractious final 20 minutes. Tampa Bay, content to protect their lead, racked up bookings at a remarkable rate. Dion Acoff was cautioned in the 75th minute, Louis Pérez followed two minutes later, and Dolabella — the goalscorer's provider — went into the book in the 79th minute. Birmingham picked up a yellow of their own in the 80th minute, but the Rowdies weren't done. Charlie Ostrem, Jahmali Waite, and Birmingham's Gevork Diarbian were all booked in the 82nd minute as tensions boiled over. In total, the referee brandished eight yellow cards across the final 40 minutes of the match.

Despite the chaos, Tampa Bay held firm. Birmingham pushed but could not find an equalizer, and the Rowdies saw out the result to claim all three points on the road — an early-season away win that could prove valuable as the 2026 campaign takes shape.
