Lexington SC picked up a comfortable 2–0 home win over Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday night, scoring twice in the space of two minutes early in the second half through Nicolas Firmino and Marcus Epps.

The first half was a cagey affair that produced no goals but plenty of needle. Phillip Goodrum was cautioned in the 16th minute for Lexington, and Las Vegas' Benjamin Ofeimu followed him into the book midway through the half. Neither side could find a breakthrough before the break.

That changed quickly after the restart. Firmino opened the scoring in the 51st minute, finishing off a Blaine Ferri assist to give Lexington the lead. Before Las Vegas could regroup, Epps doubled the advantage just two minutes later, converting from a Goodrum delivery — the earlier-booked forward turning provider to put his side in a commanding position.

Las Vegas never seriously threatened a comeback. The final 15 minutes grew scrappy as frustration set in on both sides. Johnny Rodriguez was booked for the Lights in the 78th minute, and Lexington collected three yellows in quick succession — Oliver Semmle in the 83rd, Malcolm Fry in the 87th, and Javain Brown in the 88th — as the hosts managed the game out. Nykolas Sessock picked up a late caution for Las Vegas deep in stoppage time, capping a fractious finish.

The three points strengthen Lexington SC's position in the USL Championship standings as the season enters its stretch run, while Las Vegas Lights FC will head home empty-handed and searching for answers on the road.
