Hartford Athletic dismantled Charlotte Independence 4–2 on the road Wednesday night in USL Championship action, with Sadat Anaku scoring twice and Adewale Obalola and Augustine Williams adding a goal apiece. Jordan Scarlett and Reudd Manin replied for Charlotte, but the hosts never truly threatened a comeback.

Hartford seized control early. Anaku opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finishing from an Augustine Williams feed to give the visitors a deserved lead. Fourteen minutes later, Anaku doubled the advantage with his second of the night, this time going it alone to put Hartford firmly in command before halftime.

The second half brought no relief for Charlotte. Obalola made it 3–0 in the 52nd minute, converting after Emmanuel Samadia's assist, and Williams got on the scoresheet himself in the 67th, set up by Michael Adedokun. At 4–0, the game was over as a contest.

Charlotte did find some pride in the final stretch. Scarlett pulled one back in the 72nd minute, and Manin added a second from a Clay Dimick assist in the 85th to put a slightly better complexion on the scoreline. But the damage had long been done — Hartford's first-half control and ruthless early second-half finishing left the Independence chasing shadows for the better part of an hour.

It was a scrappy affair at times, with five yellow cards spread across both sides, though neither team saw red.

The result continues a strong spell for Hartford Athletic and raises further questions about Charlotte's ability to compete at the top end of the table this season.
