Loudoun United FC defeated Richmond Kickers 2–0 on Saturday, with Thorleifur Úlfarsson scoring both goals in a second-half double that settled a bad-tempered USL League One clash.

The first half produced no goals but plenty of friction. Richmond's Mujeeb Murana was booked inside 15 minutes, Owen O'Malley followed in the 23rd, and Daniel Moore picked up a yellow just before the break. Loudoun were not immune either, with Boluwatife Akinyode cautioned in the 56th minute as the pattern continued into the second half. In all, the referee brandished eight yellow cards across the 90 minutes — five to Richmond, three to the hosts.

The deadlock broke in the 68th minute. Jack Panayotou picked out Úlfarsson, who finished to give Loudoun the lead. Twelve minutes later, Úlfarsson doubled the advantage, converting from a Richard Aman delivery to put the result beyond doubt. It was a clinical spell from the Icelandic forward, who needed just two chances to effectively kill the contest.

Richmond's frustration was evident throughout, with Sam Layton booked moments before the opening goal and Hayden Anderson cautioned in the 59th minute, but the Kickers never found a way to turn their aggression into anything productive in the final third. Loudoun managed the closing stages comfortably, with Panayotou picking up a late booking in the 85th minute as the hosts saw out the win without alarm.

The result gives Loudoun United valuable breathing room in the League One standings and extends a difficult stretch for Richmond on the road.
