Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC ground out a 1–0 victory over Loudoun United FC on Saturday night in USL Championship action, with Samuel Bassett's early strike proving the difference.

Bassett gave the Riverhounds the lead in just the eighth minute, finishing off a chance created by Charles Ahl to put the hosts ahead before the game had a chance to settle. It was a fast start from Pittsburgh, and one that set the tone for the rest of the contest.

Loudoun struggled to find a meaningful response. The visitors picked up a booking through Sean Young early in the second half, and the match grew scrappy as the clock wound down. Pittsburgh's Joao Victor Souza was cautioned in the 87th minute, while Loudoun's Abdellatif Aboukoura saw yellow deep into stoppage time as frustrations boiled over for a side unable to find an equalizer.

Despite the slender margin, Pittsburgh managed the game well enough to see it out without any late scares. The single-goal cushion held, and the Riverhounds collected all three points at home.

The win keeps Pittsburgh moving in the right direction as the USL Championship regular season enters its final stretch, with every point carrying added weight in the push for playoff positioning.
