Carolina Ascent FC edged Lexington SC 1–0 at home on Saturday, with Emily Morris netting the only goal in the 72nd minute to secure all three points in USL Super League action.

The first half produced little in the way of goals but plenty of needle. Lexington's Allison Pantuso was booked in the 26th minute, setting the tone for a physical contest that the referee struggled to keep a lid on. Neither side could find a breakthrough before the break, and the game headed into halftime locked at 0–0.

The second half brought more cards than chances early on. Carolina's Lily Nabet picked up a yellow in the 55th minute, followed by teammate Mia Corbin just three minutes later. Lexington's Alyssa Bourgeois joined the book in the 61st minute, making it four cautions in a scrappy stretch of play that broke up any sustained rhythm from either team.

Then Morris settled it. The forward latched onto a pass from Shea Groom and finished to give Carolina the lead with 18 minutes remaining. Lexington pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages but couldn't find a way through, and Carolina held firm to see out the clean sheet.

The victory gives Carolina Ascent FC a valuable three points as the season enters its latter stages, strengthening their position in the USL Super League standings at Lexington's expense.
