New York Cosmos fought back from two goals down to salvage a 2–2 draw against Forward Madison FC in USL League One action on Sunday. Geni Kanyane and Ryan Carmichael had the visitors in control before halftime, but Philip Spengler and Sebastián Guenzatti struck in quick succession early in the second half to level the contest.

Forward Madison took command of the first half. Kanyane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, giving the away side a deserved lead. He picked up a yellow card ten minutes later, but that did nothing to slow Madison's momentum — Carmichael doubled the advantage in the 34th minute to put the Cosmos in a deep hole heading into the break.

Whatever was said at halftime worked. The Cosmos came out transformed after the interval. Spengler pulled one back in the 49th minute, finishing from an Anderson Holt delivery, and just sixty seconds later Guenzatti equalized to make it 2–2. Two goals in two minutes wiped out what had looked like a comfortable Madison lead.
