Detroit City FC snatched all three points with a stoppage-time winner to beat Birmingham Legion FC 2–1 on the road Thursday night in USL Championship action. Rio Hope-Gund opened the scoring inside two minutes, Tyler Pasher equalized for the hosts midway through the first half, and Ben Morris struck in the 90+2nd minute to settle it for Detroit.

The visitors wasted no time making their intentions clear. Hope-Gund found the net just two minutes in, finishing off a feed from Kobe Hernández-Foster to give Detroit an early lead. Birmingham absorbed the blow and responded well, with Pasher pulling the Legion level in the 24th minute.

From there, the contest grew increasingly fractious. Seven yellow cards were shown across the 90-plus minutes — four to Birmingham, three to Detroit — as neither side could establish sustained control. The second half settled into a tense, scrappy affair with both teams pushing for a winner but struggling to create clear-cut chances.

It looked destined for a draw until Morris popped up two minutes into added time to snatch all three points for Detroit. The late blow left Birmingham stunned, and the frustration boiled over moments later when Sebastián Saucedo picked up a yellow card deep in stoppage time.

The result gives Detroit City FC a valuable away victory and compounds what has been a difficult stretch for Birmingham Legion FC, who will rue conceding so late after fighting their way back into the match.
