Charleston Battery and Sacramento Republic FC shared the points in a 1–1 draw in USL Championship action on Saturday. Forster Ajago opened the scoring for Sacramento early in the second half, and Emilio Ycaza equalized for Charleston midway through the period.

The first half produced no goals but plenty of friction. Maalique Foster picked up a yellow card in the 24th minute for Charleston, and Sacramento collected two bookings of their own before the break, including one for Memo Rodríguez in the 31st minute. Neither side could find a breakthrough despite the rising intensity.

That changed three minutes into the second half. Ajago struck for Sacramento in the 48th minute, giving the visitors the lead almost immediately after the restart. Republic FC looked comfortable sitting on the advantage as the clock ticked past the hour mark.

Charleston's response came through Ycaza, who leveled the match in the 73rd minute to breathe life back into the home side. The celebrations proved costly — Ycaza was booked just two minutes later, at the same time Ajago also received a yellow card, as tempers flared between the two goalscorers. Aaron Essel had already been cautioned in the 70th minute for Sacramento, and Miguel Berry added a late booking for Charleston deep into stoppage time, capping a match that saw the referee produce seven yellow cards in total.

Neither team could find a winner in the closing stages, and the draw leaves both clubs searching for the kind of results that move the needle in a congested Championship table.
