Virginia Dream FC cruised to a 3–0 victory over FC Frederick in NPSL action on June 14, with the visitors largely beating themselves through a trio of own goals. O. Osifeso put through his own net inside the opening minute, while Z. Diarra added two more in his own goal in the 33rd and 35th minutes.

FC Frederick's afternoon went wrong from the very start. Barely 60 seconds had been played when Osifeso turned the ball into his own net, handing Virginia Dream FC the lead before the match had a chance to settle. Frederick spent the next half-hour chasing an equalizer but instead made things considerably worse. Diarra scored past his own goalkeeper in the 33rd minute, then repeated the feat just two minutes later to make it 3–0 before halftime. It was a disastrous five-minute spell that effectively killed the contest.

The second half offered little drama. FC Frederick never threatened a meaningful comeback, and the game drifted toward its conclusion. Tempers frayed late on — R. Cicmanec picked up a yellow card for Virginia Dream FC in the 62nd minute, before J. Ndrenika and FC Frederick's R. O'Neill were both cautioned in the 83rd minute in what appeared to be a flashpoint between the two sides.

No red cards were shown, and Virginia Dream FC saw out a comfortable win without needing to produce much attacking quality of their own. The result gives Dream FC three points and a clean sheet in a match that will haunt FC Frederick, whose self-inflicted wounds made for a forgettable road trip.
