AC Newport and American Soccer Club New York played out a 3–3 draw in the NPSL on Friday, with AC Newport clawing back from two goals down twice to salvage a point. B. Brown scored twice for the hosts, C. Morandi added the equalizer in the 70th minute, while H. Avila Jr and two other American Soccer Club New York players found the net.

The visitors came out fast. They took the lead inside seven minutes and doubled the advantage in the 14th, leaving AC Newport scrambling. Brown pulled one back in the 18th minute to cut the deficit to one, but American Soccer Club New York carried the momentum into halftime. Avila Jr struck right at the 45-minute mark to restore the two-goal cushion, sending the visitors into the break leading 3–1.

Whatever was said at halftime worked. Newport came out with urgency in the second half, and Brown grabbed his second of the night in the 51st minute to make it 3–2. The match grew increasingly fractious — T. Levisee picked up a yellow for American Soccer Club New York in the 48th minute, and J. Gil Mejia was booked for Newport shortly after. The visitors dug in, but Morandi found the equalizer in the 70th minute to level the score at 3–3. Two more yellow cards followed in the final stretch as both sides pushed for a winner, but neither could break through.

The draw leaves both teams sharing the points in a result that will feel like two dropped for American Soccer Club New York and one gained for a resilient AC Newport side.
